If you’ve done the the Sardine Run and fancy a ringside seat to another wounder of nature then the Chokka feeding frenzy is for you.
Chokka (Loligo vulgaris reyaudi) is a type of squide found all the souther caoe shore line During the summer months, when breeding occures it becomes consentrated between the Cape Point and Port Elizabeth During the chokka spawning the eggs form big orange -red patches on the sea bed Once a year - from October to November and in the top fishing spot of Cape St Francis
You will find these squid perform nuptial dance , laying there eggs and then try to defend the resulting egg beds from the onslaught of predators like the rays,seal,sharks and dolphines this is another spectacilure display of nature at work.
